How To Renew Your Montana Real Estate License

In Montana, the Board of Realty Regulation requires that all real estate licensees complete 12 hours of continuing eduction classes every year. The 12 hours of Montana real estate continuing eduction must be completed before October 31.

Out of the 12 hours, 4 hours must be in mandatory topics and the remaining 8 can be in elective topics. The Board of Realty Regulation has created a list of CE Approved Topics. Subjects such as fair housing, contract law, and agency are listed in the "mandatory" category, while topics such as agriculture, conservation, and escrow are a part of the "elective" category.

After you complete a Board of Realty Regulation approved course, the school will report the CE credits to the Montana Department of Labor & Industry. School instructors have 20 days from the course completion date to submit their student roster to the DLI. You can check your completed CE credit hours by going to the DLI's Professional Continuing Education Lookup page.
