Our program has been rigerously reviewed and approved by the NMLS for continuing education credit.
Our program has been rigorously reviewed, approved, and authorized for continuing education credit by the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS). Our 9-hour Washington MLO Continuing Education course package includes the required 8 hours of federal law, ethics, nontraditional mortgages, an elective, and 1 hour of Washington state-specific course content.
The Washington-specific section covers the acts and practices that Washington mortgage licensees are prohibited from participating in as well as the actions that a licensee is allowed to participate in.
Our courses at OnlineEd are written by OnlineEd. Because of this, we save on overhead licensing costs and can pass those savings on to you.
Take the standard NMLS 8-hour required courses, the 1-hour Washington course, or both combined in our 9-hour Washington continuing education course.
Our mortgage continuing education courses are available in several convenient packages. You can choose the 8-hour Originator Essentials course needed to meet the NMLS 8-hour course guidelines for continuing education credit, or the 1-hour Washington Prohibited Conduct and Permitted Acts course as a stand-alone for those who have already completed 8 hours of NMLS continuing education and only need to fulfill the 1-hour WA requirement. Both courses can also be bundled together in our 9-hour Washington MLO Continuing Education package.
You need to be registered with the NMLS before you can earn continuing education credits.
If you do not have an NMLS ID number and need to obtain one, create one using the instructions available at the NMLS Resource Center.
If you already have an NMLS ID but don't remember what it is:
MLOs are required to take a minimum of 8 hours of continuing education every year in Federal Laws and Regulations, Ethics, non-traditional mortgage training, and mortgage origination. In addition, Washington requires a 1-hour Prohibited Conduct and Permitted Acts course.
The SAFE Act requires licensed Mortgage Loan Originators to take a minimum of 8 hours of continuing education every year. The continuing education credit hours must be in the following categories:
In Washington, MLOs are required to take 9 hours of continuing education credits, which includes 1 hour of WA-specific course content. If you are licensed in other states, please check with each state to learn if you need to take additional credit hours. See this handy PDF for details.
Our 9-hour Washington MLO Continuing Education package covers all of the courses required for continuing education in Washington.
We also sell the 1-hour WA SAFE: Prohibited Conduct and Permitted Acts as a stand-alone course for those who have already completed 8 hours of NMLS continuing education and just need to fulfill the 1-hour Washington requirement.
Once you have completed the course, OnlineEd will notify the NMLS of your continuing education credit hours.
