This course is an overview of the Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act (FIRPTA), which requires buyers of properties sold by foreign persons to set aside a percentage of the the sale proceeds for IRS tax purposes. In this video course, Rich Bailey of First American Title Company explains the rules of FIRPTA, the withholding requirements, and common issues that may appear when dealing with a foreign (or non-foreign) seller.
This 1-hour course is made of a series of video segments. Each video must be watched from beginning to end to unlock the next video. There is no final exam at the end of the course. An Oregon real estate continuing education certificate of completion will be downloadable after all of the videos have been watched and the required time is spent in the course. All Oregon continuing education courses must be time-monitored.
