How to get a California real estate license

To be licensed as a real estate salesperson, you must take three 45-hour pre-license courses. For a California real estate broker license, you need two years of experience as a salesperson and must complete eight 45-hour California real estate broker pre-license courses. DRE Sponsor #S0683

California Real Estate BROKER Education Requirements

A real estate broker license allows an agent to run an independent business and hire employees. Qualifying for a real estate broker license requires 2 years of industry experience and taking 8 total pre-license courses of 45 hours each. Persons that have a salesperson license will already have met the requirements for 3 of the 8 courses taken during initial licensure. Most persons will only need to take the 5 remaining courses. Out-of-state agents looking for a California broker license for initial licensure will need to take all 8 courses.
